Ancient image challenge #1: Hint #9

To help focus the eye, remove the background.

Hints
Load the file into a program like Microsoft Paint.
Pick a color similar to the image using the eye dropper tool.
Use the filled in box tool to clear away large amounts of background.
Use broad, then fine paint brush  to carefully follow curves.
If artwork has been damaged, it may be necessary to fill in the damaged area. 

This is a long process.  Zoom in and out to search if you accidentally cleared over some of the image.  There already is an error on the bottom left.

Now about that giant toe.  Go back to the original photo. That isn't a toe.  It is a chip in the rock.  Instead of being a raised area, it is actually a depression.  

So why is the dog looking backwards?  Try and figure it out before moving to the semi-final picture.
